The following assignment will be graded and you will be awared extra credit points up to 100 for both reading and writing. The better you do, the more points it is worth.
Choose an American Short Story, produce an accurate, correct APA format bibliographic reference for your story. Read the story and write a two part assignment. The first part is a summary of the story. The second part is an essay that expresses your opinion on why you think the author wrote the story. What message did he or she wish to communicate. Use evidence from the story to establish your thesis using correct format in-text citations.
You may do up to four stories, four separate assignments. You will probably find other people who have written about the story you choose. If you do and you choose to incorporate their ideas into your work, you must create accurate bibliographic references and properly cite their work in your essay.
I strongly suggest either conferencing with me during office hours or visiting the center for student success before handing in the assignment on or before December 10th.
